Contemplation
The artwork features a tabby cat sitting on concrete warmed by the sun and staring at the water. I wonder what he is thinking about so intently? Perhaps he is just dozing in the warm sunlight and thinking about catching a fish for lunch.
I do enjoy the challenge of capturing all the wonderful fur detail in an animal drawing/portrait. It often seems that the varying fur patterns is part of their personality and I enjoy portraying that as much as possible one pencil stroke at a time. I loved the lighting and tried to portray a sense of the sun’s warmth.
